specialist care
Here are examples of some of the conditions where our highly-skilled teams make a difference:
Stroke
Medical advances mean that even at an advanced age, recovery from a stroke is possible.
However, it is a gradual process and most people will not be fully recovered by the time they leave hospital. In the short term, a person may be entitled to help from a district nurse or occupational therapist.
We can provide extra assistance during this time with personal care and help with rehabilitation exercises.
Dementia/Alzheimer’s/Parkinsons
At Wisteria Care, we understand that someone affected by cognitive and mobility issues can experience profound distress.
Our carers are skilled at calming agitation and sticking to routines that make the person feel comfortable in familiar surroundings and less likely to wander off.
Where possible, carers use their expertise to encourage verbal communication and the sharing of memories to encourage communication.
Palliative/End of Life Care
We provide care for people who have chosen to be at home in the last days of their life.
We can take charge of the daily household tasks and provide moral support, enabling the patient and their family to spend precious time together.
We will work closely with medical and nursing teams to ensure the best quality of care is delivered with empathy and respect.
Learning Disabilities
Recently we have begun working with clients who live with Learning Disabilities, training all our experienced staff on various conditions that come under this umbrella term, and how to be adaptable to any situation. We will work closely with you, or your loved one to ensure that nothing holds you or them back from living the best life they possibly can.
